Neutral Handoff Language
Describing the situation clearly without blame or interpretation.
This page provides neutral wording to describe what is happening. Its purpose is communication, not resolution.
The focus is on observation and timeline rather than explanation or diagnosis.
Before speaking or writing, it can help to hold a few points in mind. What the behavior looks like, how often it occurs, and how long it has been happening.
Noting what has changed over time versus what has stayed the same can also help keep the description clear.
Below is a copy-and-paste neutral handoff script.
“Over time, my cat’s behavior has become difficult for me to manage. The behavior feels frequent and ongoing, and the impact on daily life has increased. I’m reaching out to describe what I’m observing and to understand what kind of support may be appropriate.”
This wording stays factual. It avoids blame, diagnosis, and interpretation.
The goal is to hand off the situation clearly, without carrying conclusions or decisions into the conversation.
